Crux Fidelis for Equal Voices
Crux Fidelis for Equal Voices
A succinct setting of the Good Friday hymn "Crux Fidelis". This may be sung in conjunction with the actual chant as a refrain,
Faithful Cross the Saints rely on,
Noble tree beyond compare!
Never was there such a scion,
Never leaf or flower so rare.
Sweet the timber, sweet the iron,
Sweet the burden that they bear!
Note: If sung with the chant "Pange Lingua Gloriosi", Crux Fidelis is sung through without "Dulce lignum" and "germine" for the third voice ends with a whole note F.
